EdSurf is "the online distance education learning resource for adult students" and there is a lot here to explore. EdSurf features links to distance learning institutions and courses, free online courses, a monthly EdSurf Digest, daily headlines on online learning, and the opportunity to post your monthly online learning "happening." EdSurf is also the only place so far I've seen that lists resources for online high school courses.

Interview about EdSurf Net

Face-to-Face with John M. Taylor

A couple of years ago, John M. Taylor was but one of the hundreds of "Netizens" who recognized how the Internet could fill a gap in his offline life. Namely, affording the wheelchair-bound Taylor hassle-free access to education.

Lycos Top 5% Web Guide

Talk about a good student: webmaster J.M. Taylor designed and implemented this hyper-index of distance learning opportunities as a class project for an Internet Skills course he took online. It offers pointers to numerous "Virtual U's" (e.g. Foothill Global Access, Open University Of the UK...), "Virtual Highs" (for those wanting to pick up that G.E.D. or diploma), plus individual courses in subjects like Macro Economics, Basic Writing Skills, African American History -- you can just about name it. Other distance learning clearinghouses and pertinent newsgroups are also readily accessible. A fine starting point for anyone looking to pick up educational credits via the Net.
